AGAPE Mozambique is located in the heart of a nation that faced an unprecedented year of challenges in 2024.

Difficulties in project work, compounded by a complex socio-economic reality, tested the resilience and determination of us all. However, in the midst of these challenges, we witnessed something extraordinary: an awakening of active citizenship, manifested through the vibrant popular demonstrations that invaded the streets of our cities.

These demonstrations are not just events; they are the heartbeat of a society that is awakening and becoming aware of its own power. Every voice that rises, every step forward, represents a collective cry of hope and determination. Mozambicans are realising that they are the protagonists of their own history, builders of a better future for generations to come. In a context of challenges and uncertainties, these demonstrations have become a beacon of light, a symbol of the will to change.

Despite the difficulties we have faced, AGAPE Mozambique has continued to do its utmost to support communities, promoting programmes that stimulate active participation and empowerment. Each project we have carried out has helped to create spaces for dialogue and discussion, where people can express their ideas and aspirations. It is in these spaces that we have seen an awareness of the importance of participation in building society germinate.

From year to year, we can observe a continuous improvement: not only in the projects implemented, but above all in the collective awareness. Mozambicans are discovering their crucial role in shaping their country, claiming their rights and working together for a more just and inclusive future. The challenges are still there, but the determination of our people is stronger than ever.

In 2025, AGAPE Mozambique will continue to walk alongside these communities, supporting their dreams and struggles. The road is long and full of obstacles, but together we are building a mosaic of hope, a future where every voice counts and every action makes a difference. In this journey, every step, every demonstration, every project represents a building block in the construction of a more aware, fairer and supportive society… because the future cannot be improvised!’
