Education and entrepreneurship

The project was created with the idea of training young people in entrepreneurship and stimulating in them business ideas that can succeed, last over time and create an enduring change by improving the lives of people in their communities.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Mozambique’s growth forecasts are very positive despite the difficulties of recent years. However, the country’s economic growth is not directly proportional to the growth in employment: in the last few years, the number of university graduates has increased significantly, as has the number of unemployed. It is estimated, in fact, that around 40% of young people in urban areas are unemployed: a percentage that increases in more peripheral areas and in the provinces. For this reason, we chose the province of Gaza (specifically the city of Xai-Xai) as the location for the first cycle of training. In the provinces, young people have fewer opportunities for growth and stimulation than in the big cities, and the organisations also operate less intensively and continuously.

Activities

The project consists of 4 trainings, at the end of each of which the young people have a few weeks to present their project and only the most motivated and meritorious proceed to the next training. The last training will be attended by the 10 with the most innovative and best-constructed ideas, and only 5 will receive our accompaniment for a year in their search for funding.

Project phases

PROJECT DESIGN

Thinking outside the box. This training aims to understand how to analyse the context in which we live and how to seize opportunities in the area to realise innovative business ideas.

CORPORATE COMMUNICATION

Developing the identity of our company, visually explaining the values and characteristics that make it unique, understanding what our audiences are and how to communicate with each of them.

MARKETING

Strategic Planning and the 4Ps of Marketing (Product, Price, Point of Sale, Promotion). How to select the characteristics of our business in order to reach the right customers with the right communication.

BUSINEss PLAN

Complete the “Business Plan” by putting together what has been learnt in previous trainings (business idea, identity, audience and product characteristics) and develop the economic plan.

ORIENTATION

Development of an appealing and effective presentation and a one-year accompaniment in its presentation to banks and possible investors to realise the start-up.

Impact

The project aims to stimulate in young people the awareness that they can change their future by thinking outside the box: even young people who are unable to take part in all the trainings are present at the first and most important one, where they understand how to analyse the context and the problems that communities encounter on a daily basis. From this starting point, they can learn how to develop new and truly revolutionary ideas and activities, seizing the opportunities in their area.
