EDUCATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

By bringing together artists, musicians, dancers, and cultural professionals, CROSSBEATS offers a space for experimentation where electronic music engages with traditional practices, collective memories, and contemporary expressions of the performing arts.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

CROSSBEATS was born out of a desire to build new bridges between Mozambique and Europe through art, fostering encounters between different cultures, languages, and creative forms. The project stems from the belief that international artistic collaboration can generate opportunities for growth, mutual learning, and cultural innovation.

The creative process unfolds through artist residencies, collaborative research, and opportunities for exchange that place intercultural dialogue at the heart of the creative process.

The initiative is led by AGAPE Mozambique in collaboration with Forevergreen, from Italy, and the Amsterdam Fringe Festival, from the Netherlands. Together, the partners have created a program that allows participants to work side by side, share knowledge, discover new methodologies, and develop a transdisciplinary artistic co-production built upon the diversity of their experiences.

Objectives

Promoting fair artistic exchanges

To promote collaboration between young artists and cultural professionals from Mozambique and Europe through joint research, collaborative workshops, and training activities.

Creating a transdisciplinary co-Production

To develop an original artistic work that combines music, dance, theater, and performative storytelling, created collectively during the artist residencies.

Strengthening international mobility

Implement a strategy to promote and expand international co-production, creating new opportunities for collaboration with festivals, cultural institutions, and professional networks.

Impact

A collaboration that goes beyond the project itself. CROSSBEATS contributes to the professional growth of the artists and cultural practitioners involved, strengthening the skills needed to work in international and intercultural contexts. The project promotes a stronger dialogue between Mozambique and Europe, increases the visibility of collaborative processes, and generates shared methodologies, as well as audiovisual materials that document and preserve the creative journey developed together.
