When we learned that Alessandro and Beatrice wanted to organize a fundraiser to give a new face to the classroom in which so many children and young people study every day, we were truly proud of them and, we must admit, a little proud, because AGAPE had once again managed to grow in a new generation the commitment to others and the courage to think big, that together everything is possible.

The young people, who started with the Universal Civil Service program in October 2022, have carried out many activities in the Mafalala neighborhood, a historic and very poor neighborhood of the city of Maputo, including drama therapy, school support and institutional support for our partners. Towards the end of their experience, they decided to want to leave an even more tangible mark on the project and the children with whom they shared these months: renovating the classroom in which they have had lessons so many times.

This small room, about 3 meters by 3, was built a long time ago, and now every time it rains it floods, inevitably ruining everything that is stored there and making it unusable for lessons until the sun manages to dry it.

Thanks to the great awareness-raising work of Alessandro and Beatrice and the generosity of relatives, friends and donors of AGAPE, today (October 2023) the renovation work is about to begin and will give a new face to the classroom in Machaka. But not only that, thanks to the many donations collected, it will be possible to buy two computers with which the Machaka association will be able to work and offer services to the community, and with which the children of the neighborhood will be able to study, and also many school materials that will be stored inside the classroom, finally protected from the elements, which will be available to the children who come for after-school care.
