AGAPE firmly believes in the importance of volunteering as a tool of civil responsibility for the community and as a driving force for social change around the world.
AGAPE, in its history of more than 25 years, has its roots in the voluntary work of many people, first in Italy and then around the world. In the last 6 years, working in Mozambique with a growing number of organisations and more and more young Mozambicans, we have seen an increase in the number of young people involved in our projects. Therefore, we have decided to valorise this important contribution, by creating a specific programme and promoting it.
VOLUNTEERING WITH CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
There are many partners with whom AGAPE collaborates that work with children and young people in the most disadvantaged neighbourhoods of Maputo: the activities involve both school support and all kinds of recreational activities, in order to improve their growth and the development of their potential.
VOLUNTEERING IN THE COMMUNITIES
Volunteers have the opportunity to join local organisations that work directly with the communities to provide listening, assistance and counselling, support for children’s growth, women’s empowerment and awareness-raising.
INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT TO AGAPE AND LOCAL PARTNERS
In both AGAPE’s office and those of its partners, the youngsters can challenge themselves and understand how non-profit organisations work: from project drafting, to implementation, communication, fundraising and reporting.
Each year, the work of a great number of volunteers with different skills and attitudes enables AGAPE and its partners to improve their projects and increase the scope of their impact, by reaching more and more beneficiaries and increasing the activities proposed.
