HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Since 1990, even before AGAPE was born, a group of our volunteers had already started to realise, together with other associations, projects all over the world. These included schools, homes, workshops, dispensaries for lepers, and others. However, the desire to help children around the world, not only by building homes and schools, but also by offering sustenance and caring, became ever stronger. Thus, in 1992, thanks to a small group of volunteers, the first forms of aid began to be created and materialised in long-distance adoptions, but they did not stop there: strengthened by the skills and knowledge they had acquired, in 1996 this group of volunteers decided to found the AGAPE association.
Over the years, our humanitarian aid activities have become increasingly numerous and in 2009 we were present in 15 countries with AGAPE. Currently, our efforts are concentrated in two large areas of the African continent (Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique) where AGAPE is legally recognised, but also in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ecuador and India.
